Divya Spandana slams Ajay Devgn: Actress and Congress leader Divya Spandana(Ramya) slammed Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn for his tweet that Hindi is the mother tongue and national language of India. Divya, who is also a former MP, said that Ajay Devgn’s ignorance is ‘baffling’ and that Hindi is not the national language of the country.
The Kannada actress while retweeting Ajay Devgn’s tweet, said, “No- Hindi is not our national language. @ajaydevgn Your ignorance is baffling. And it’s great that films like KGF Pushpa and RRR have done so well in the Hindi belt- art has no language barrier. Please enjoy our films as much as we enjoy yours- #stopHindiImposition“.
Earlier, Ajay Devgn had responded to the remark of Kannada actor Kichha Sudeep. To Sudeep’s statement that “Hindi is no more a national language.”, Devgn replied that Hindi is the mother tongue and the national language. If Hindi is not the national language then why are you dubbing the film in Hindi? Devgan’s tweet was in Hindi.
The controversy arose after south star Kiccha Sudeep, in an exclusive interview with KarnatakaTak, said that “Hindi is no more a national language.” This comes in the wake of South films breaking records at the box office.
In an exclusive interview with KarnatakaTak, Kiccha Sudeep said, “Hindi is no more a national language.” Reacting to the pan-India success of films like KGF: Chapter 2, Pushpa: The Rise and others, he goes on to add, “Because we come from South India, they started terming us ‘pan-India’. Why isn’t Hindi [cinema] being said as pan-India?” Kiccha Sudeep asks, “Which is getting a better response from audiences today?”
