A new prime minister is to be elected after Mario Draghi resigns. Giorgia Meloni is a staunch right-wing leader. Late on Sunday night, she shared a blurred video and wrote that she cannot keep silent about this dastardly incident. After deleting the video, she said on Twitter that the video she shared was originally posted on a newspaper’s website. Regarding sharing the video, she said that she did it to show solidarity with the victim.

In 2006, at the age of 29, Meloni became the youngest deputy speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, the lower house of Italy’s parliament. Two years later, she became a minister in the cabinet led by Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, the longest-serving ever. When she was 32, Berlusconi’s party merged with the center right group Forza Italia. The merger created a group called ‘The People of Freedom’, and Meloni became its vice president. In 2012, she created her own party ‘Brothers of Italy’. She became the head of the party in 2014. Since then she has been raising her voice against LGBTQI rights, gay marriage and immigration.
