Youth Congress workers threw a bike in Hussain Sagar Lake on Friday in protest against the rising petrol and diesel prices in Telangana. He has demanded a complete rollback of the increase in the prices of diesel-petrol in the country. Several Congress leaders including state unit president N Uttam Kumar Reddy, working president A Revanth Reddy and Ponnam Prabhakar, MPs Komati Reddy, Venkata Reddy, CLP leader Bhatti Vikramarka, MLA T Jayaprakash Reddy, AICC spokesperson Dasoju Shravan, and several Congress leaders gathered around the petrol pumps and participated in the Protest.
Congress workers protested across the country
On June 9, the Congress announced that it would protest against the rising prices of petrol and diesel at petrol pumps across the country on June 11. The opposition party had said that they have decided to protest on the streets after fuel prices crossed Rs 100 in several states. The party has directed all state units and frontal organizations to protest and demand withdrawal of the hike in prices.
Congress organization general secretary KC Venugopal had called upon the state units to stage a symbolic protest for their immediate demand to take back the loot and price hikes of the people. He had said that there should be a public campaign against the uncontrolled rise in petrol and diesel prices, economic slowdown, widespread unemployment, wage cuts and its impact on people suffering from lack of employment.
KC Venugopal had said in a letter to the state units that even in the midst of the pandemic, the prices of petrol and diesel are increasing across the country. The increase in petrol prices will eventually lead to an unprecedented rise in the prices of all household items and essential commodities. Petrol prices have crossed Rs 100 in many states.
