Recently, during a discussion with Meenakshi Lekhi, who took over as the Minister of State for External Affairs at the Centre, a speaker asked when Kashmiri Pandit would be resettled in Kashmir so that they could save their culture. To this Lekhi said, ‘I am surprised at this question because you are a part of this country and you can go wherever you want. No one is stopping anyone from going back home. Apart from this, whatever is needed will be given.’

In fact, Meenakshi Lekhi in her statement blamed the Kashmiri Pandits for not returning to Kashmir. Giving an example, she had said for Kashmiris that as migrant laborers returned to their work after the pandemic, Kashmiri Pandits should have returned too, why didn’t they do so?

Meanwhile, a participant also said that Kashmiri Pandits were forcibly driven away and the issue is not fair to compare with migrant laborers. Many Kashmiri Pandits have also opposed this statement of Meenakshi Lekhi on social media.

Filmmaker and a staunch BJP supporter, Ashok Pandit is very hurt by this statement of BJP leader Meenakshi Lekhi. Taking out his anger on the Union Minister, Ashok Pandit said- ‘7 lakh Kashmiri Hindus, who are spread all over the world, are waiting for your apology for your lousy statement Meenakshi Lekhi.’
