Controversy has erupted after Union Minister Babul Supriyo allegedly slapped a man at the Kolkata party office, contesting assembly elections from Tollyganj seat in West Bengal.
In a video that went viral on Monday, the singer and BJP leader Babul Supriyo is seen slapping a person who repeatedly asks him to start serious campaigning in the area instead of coming in front of TV cameras and giving bytes (interviews).

Supriyo later said he had ‘not slapped her but merely pretended to do so.’ The incident took place on Sunday at the BJP office in Ranikuthi area in Tollyganj constituency where Union Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change has gone to participate in Doljatra celebration.
Trinamool Congress spokesperson Kunal Ghosh said his party wanted to know whether the person who was slapped by Supriyo was a ‘outsider of the Trinamool Congress’ or a ‘Vibhishan’ (a member of the BJP).
