Tripura BJP govt book journalist under UAPA: Journalist Shyam Meera Singh has claimed on social media that the BJP government of Tripura has filed a case against him under UAPA. The journalist claims that the Tripura government has taken this action against him for writing “Tripura is burning”. At the same time, Tripura Police PRO Jyotishman D Choudhary said that a case has been registered against 102 Twitter accounts under UAPA.
According to news agency ANI, Tripura Police PRO Jyotishman D Choudhary told that, Tripura Police has booked a total of 102 Twitter accounts under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) for spreading fake and distorted information related to the recent violence in Panisagar.
Choudhary further said that the case, which was earlier investigated by the police, has now been transferred to the Crime Branch of Tripura Police. Police are trying to trace the operators of the accounts.

Meanwhile, journalist Shyam Meera Singh has claimed that the BJP government of Tripura has booked him under UAPA. Singh in his tweet on Saturday wrote, “For writing only these 3 words “Tripura is burning”, BJP Government of Tripura has imposed UAPA on me. I want to reiterate once again, I will never hesitate to stand up for justice. PM of my country might be a coward, We journalists are not. I am not afraid of your prisons.”
In another tweet, the journalist claimed, “UAPA is not on me alone, it has also hit 101 people apart from me, they are all Muslims. This shows how the Indian government is treating its minorities. The fight is not mine, it is to save those children. It is shameful that Indians speak on Taliban but remain silent on Hindu Taliban.”
Expressing gratitude for the support received by the people, the journalist further said, “Thank you for standing by me, but don’t worry about me. I appeal to you, divert this issue from me and focus on “Muslim atrocities”. The normal rights of crores of Muslims of this country are also being crushed. If there is any humanity left among the Hindus, then support them.”
At the same time, Shyam Meera Singh has taken a post on Facebook regarding this whole matter. In which he said that, I have got the FIR copy of Tripura Police.
