AR Rahman is famous not only in the country but all over the world for his voice. Recently, the singer has received such an honor from Canada that hardly anyone has been awarded before. It is a matter of pride for the country that India’s famous musician AR Rahman has been given a great gift by the City of Markham Canada.
To honor music director AR Rahman, it has been decided to name a street in Canada after him. According to the information received, a street in the Canadian city of Markham has been renamed as AR Rahman. Significantly, in 2013, another road in Markham (Canada) was named after musician AR Rahman (47) – Allah-Rakha Rahman St.

Giving information about this, AR Rahman himself has shared the post on social media. The music director shared photos with the Mayor of Markham, writing, “Honoured and Grateful for this recognition from the City of Markham, Frank Scarpitti and the people of Canada.”
Apart from this, he has thanked the Mayor of Kadana and the Canadians through Twitter. He tweeted and wrote, “I never imagined this in my life, I am very grateful to all of you, the Mayor of Markham, Canada (Frank Scarpitti) and Counsellors, Indian Consulate General Apoorva Srivastava and the people of Canada.”
Not only this, music composer AR Rahman has also told the importance of his name in his thank you letter. He writes, “The name A.R. Rahman is not mine. It means merciful. The merciful is the quality of the common God we all have and one can only be the servant of merciful. So let that name bring peace, prosperity, happiness and health to all the people living in Canada. God bless you all.”
Talking about AR Rahman’s workfront, he is currently busy with the film Chiyan Vikram’s Cobra. The film will hit the theaters on August 31. After Cobra, his next project is Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan. Along with this, he is working on his directorial debut Le Musk.
