India’s young badminton player Lakshya Sen has done wonders in the Commonwealth Games. He defeated Malaysia Ang Jae Yong in the men’s singles final to win the gold medal. This is his first medal in Commonwealth Games. Lakshya, who was a member of the team that won the Thomas Cup this year, has emerged as India’s top shuttler in the last one year. The success story of Lakshya, who hails from Almora, Uttarakhand, is quite interesting.

His father DK Sen united day and night to take Lakshya Sen to his destination. DK Sen left both his sons till Almora to become better badminton players and moved to Bengaluru. However, his relationship with Almora is still there and Lakshya had gone there after winning the bronze medal at the World Championships.

Lakshya’s grandfather was also a badminton player
Lakshya’s grandfather CL Sen was a great badminton player. He had won many state and national level competitions. Due to his passion and passion, badminton got a boost in Almora. Due to this, he is also considered the pioneer of badminton in Almora. That legacy has now been carried forward by Lakshya. He has proved his mettle not only in the state or the country, but in the whole world.

Father is associated with Prakash Padukone Academy
Lakshya’s father DK Sen is a well-known coach of badminton and is currently associated with Prakash Padukone Academy. Lakshya started playing badminton as soon as he regained consciousness under the supervision of his father and he started going to the stadium from the age of four. At the age of six-seven, Lakshya’s game and his talent surprised everyone.

Lakshya Sen’s elder brother Chirag Sen is also an international badminton player. Chirag has been number two in Junior National Badminton Championship and Junior World Championship. In 2018, Lakshya won the Junior Asian Badminton Championship. Since then he hasn’t looked back. He continues to win big tournaments. After the World Championships and Thomas Cup medals, he now has a Commonwealth Games medal in his bag.
