Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has targeted the central government on the pretext of Statue of Equality, the statue of Sant Ramanujacharya. Rahul Gandhi tweeted and wrote that the Statue of Equality is Made in China and ‘New India’ is China-dependent. Let us tell you that Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated it to the nation by unveiling a 216-feet high ‘Statue of Equality’ statue in the memory of 11th century Vaishnava saint Sri Ramanujacharya here on Saturday.
Mr Gandhi’s remarks come after media reports claimed that the 216-feet statue of Ramanujacharya in Hyderabad was made by a Chinese corporation. Reports claim that the contract for the ₹ 135 crore statue was awarded to China’s Aerosun Corporation in 2015. It was brought to India in 1,600 pieces and then assembled here over a period of 15 months.
Though the statue was conceptualized by spiritual guru Chinna Jeeyar Swamy of the Ramanujacharya Ashram, the contract for the project was reportedly secured by Chinese company Aerosun Corporation in 2015. Taking a dig at the Modi government, Rahul Gandhi tweeted, “New India is China-nirbhar?”
This strengthens Rahul Gandhi’s attack on PM Modi over China. In his speech at Parliament, Rahul Gandhi said the Chinese have a clear vision of what they want to do and India has allowed China and Pakistan to come closer, which has been the biggest strategic mistake.
Last week, the Congress leader had launched a blistering attack in the Parliament on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s foreign policy. He accused the government of bringing China and Pakistan together.
