Sonu Sood’s sister Malvika joins Congress in Punjab, may fight election from Moga

Actor and philanthropist Sonu Sood’s sister Malvika Sood joined the Congress on Monday. Speaking on the occasion, Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi supported Malvika’s candidature from Moga in the February 14 Assembly elections and said the party would appropriately accommodate sitting MLA Harjot Kamal from the seat.

On this occasion, Punjab unit president of Congress Navjot Singh Sidhu said that Malvika Sood’s joining the Congress is an important event. He accompanied Chief Minister Channi to Sood’s residence in Moga district and got the party membership of Sonu Sood’s sister.

“It is very rare that both the party chief and the chief minister went to someone’s house to give this honor, he deserves it,” Sidhu said.

Sonu Sood and Malvika Sood met Sidhu and Channi in Moga but Sonu Sood was not present at the press conference when his sister joined Congress. Harjot Kamal is also believed to be upset over the party not supporting his candidature from Moga and this is indicated by his absence.

Actor Sood had said in November last year that his sister would join politics. ,

When asked whether Malvika Sood could be the Congress candidate from the Moga assembly seat, Channi said, “Is there anything left to say.” This is a clear indication that Malvika will be the party’s choice from the seat.

When reporters asked about Harjot Kamal’s candidature, Channi said, “Harjot Kamal is our MLA, he is very talented. He is my brother. We worked together in the party and the government. We will take him along and we will do that if need be to accommodate.”

The Chief Minister said that the party takes everyone along and whenever anyone feels disappointed, it will be resolved.

He said that he had spoken to Harjot Kamal before coming to Moga and he would meet him in the evening.

Welcoming Malvika to the Congress, Sidhu said, “It is a matter of great pleasure for us that a young lady who has earned herself a name by running an NGO and has dedicated herself to serve the people, joins our party.”

On this occasion, Malavika said that she has entered politics to dedicate herself to the service of the people. She praised Channi and said that he worked hard despite getting only about 100 days’ time.
