Smriti Irani is again in discussion about Silly Souls Cafe & Bar. Actually, till now Smriti Irani’s family has been denying to be associated with Silly Souls Cafe, but now after the disclosure of an RTI questions are raised on her claim. The RTI reveals that the company under the name of Silly Souls Cafe is in partnership with the company of Zubin Irani, husband of Smriti Irani.
The information sought under RTI i.e. Right to Information states that the food and drug license issued to Silly Souls Cafe & Bar in Assagao, Goa is in the name of Eatall Food & Beverages Limited Liability Partnership LLP. This company is working in partnership with Ugra Mercantile Pvt Ltd. Zubin Irani, husband of Union Minister Smriti Irani, is the director at Ugra Mercantile. This information has been given by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) of Goa in response to an RTI query by an advocate Ayers Rodrigues.
Smriti Irani has been denying her family any connection with that bar. In a statement, the lawyer for Smriti Irani’s daughter had said that her client is neither the owner nor the owner of the restaurant Silly Souls Goa. In July, Irani had sent a defamation notice to Congress leaders Jairam Ramesh, Pawan Kheda etc.
Congress leaders then held a press conference alleging that Smriti Irani’s daughter runs a bar in Goa and her license is illegal. It was alleged that the person who got this license had died. After this allegation of Congress, Smriti Irani also called a press conference and brought tears in her eyes and said that since she has accused Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi, she is being surrounded. Union Minister Irani had said that her daughter has no bar in Goa.
Now as per the documents found under RTI, the property surveyed under survey number 236/22 of Asagao village has been leased by Anthony DeGama to Eatall Food & Beverages LLP at a monthly rent of Rs 50,000 for 10 years from January 1, 2021 was given.
It is already revealed that the GST number AAIFE7039H1ZM is being used by Silly Souls Cafe & Bar in the name of Eatall Food & Beverages LLP.
It’s important to know that the show cause notice was sent on the complaint of lawyer Ayers Rodrigues. In this, the lawyer had alleged that the liquor license was renewed in the name of Anthony da Gama in June this year, while Anthony da Gama died in May 2021. He had also attached the death certificate issued by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation in his complaint.
The Excise Commissioner of Goa had issued show cause notices to the owners of this property, Marilyn Anthony da Gama and his son Dean da Gama in this case. The Excise Commissioner had said in the notice that the restaurant owners should respond within 7 days.
Ayers Rodrigues said in a conversation with Satya Hindi that he had put before the Excise Commissioner that in this case the excise license was given fraudulently and it was completely against the rules. Thereafter, the Excise Commissioner fixed two issues and he directed the respondents i.e. Anthony’s wife and their son to give their reply in this regard, he said.
The allegations leveled against her family were rejected by Union Minister Smriti Irani. She had also knocked on the door of the court. The Delhi High Court, in its order, had dismissed the allegations of the Congress saying that Smriti Irani and her daughter are not the owners of Goa restaurant and bar. The court had said that Congress leaders Jairam Ramesh, Pawan Khera, Netta D’Souza along with others hatched a conspiracy to falsely attack BJP leader Smriti Irani and her daughter.
The Court had observed that on perusal of the documents it is clearly seen that there was no such license which was ever issued in favor of the plaintiff or his daughter. The plaintiff or his daughter is not the owner of the restaurant. The court, while hearing a civil defamation suit of Rs 2 crore filed by Women and Child Development Minister Irani against three Congress leaders, said the plaintiff or his daughter had never applied for a licence.
