Shikhar Dhawan demands action from UP CM for serving food kept in toilets to players, says – Very disappointing

India opener Shikhar Dhawan urged Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to take action in the matter of food kept in toilets being served to kabaddi players. The 36-year-old said that he was extremely disappointed to see kabaddi players eating food kept in the toilet at the state level tournament.

Shikhar Dhawan said in a tweet that it is very disappointing to be served food kept in the toilets to Kabaddi players in the state level tournament. However, taking action on this matter, District Sports Officer in Saharanpur Animesh Saxena has been suspended after this report.

Additional Chief Secretary Sports Navneet Sehgal said that Animesh Saxena has been suspended with immediate effect. The state government directed ADM Finance and Revenue Rajnish Kumar Mishra to investigate the incident.

The players claimed that they were being served half-cooked food, which was kept in the toilet due to paucity of space. The Directorate of Sports has sought a reply from the District Magistrate on the incident.

On the first day of the three-day Sub-Junior Girls Kabaddi Competition on 16 September, the players were served half-cooked rice for lunch, which was kept in the toilets. In the video going viral, some ‘puri’ was also seen on a piece of paper on the floor inside the toilet.
