Before the 2022 assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, the Congress party has suffered a major setback. Senior leader and former Union Minister Jitin Prasada has joined BJP. BJP leader and Union Minister Piyush Goyal got him the membership of the party.
Political journey of Jitin Prasada
Jitin Prasada’s father late Jitendra Prasada, a resident of Shahjahanpur in Uttar Pradesh, was a veteran Congress leader. Jitin Prasada, who did B.Com from Delhi University, was given the responsibility of the post of secretary in the Youth Congress in the Congress in 2001. After this, Jitin Prasada reached the Lok Sabha by winning his home seat Shahjahanpur in the 2004 Lok Sabha elections. In 2008, while expressing confidence in Jitin Prasada, he was given the responsibility of the Union State Steel Minister in the Manmohan Singh government.
After this, Jitin Prasada reached the Lok Sabha by winning from Dhaurahara seat of UP in the 2009 elections. But after this, he had to face a crushing defeat in the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Jitin Prasada stood third in Dhaurahara seat of Uttar Pradesh.
