Sanjay Sherpuria, who claimed to have strong affiliations with senior leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), was arrested by the UP Special Task Force (STF) in Lucknow. It has been alleged that Sanjay Rai acquired a loan worth crores of rupees from the State Bank of India (SBI), and defrauded several individuals by promising them employment opportunities.
Sherpuria has been arrested by UP STF from Vibhutikhand area. While his associate Kasif has also been arrested from Noida. However, a detailed report on the crimes committed by the accused is expected to be released by the STF soon.

Subsequent to the news of Sanjay Sherpuria’s arrest, opposition parties launched a vehement attack on the BJP through various social media platforms. Additionally, several individuals accused the BJP of providing shelter to such individuals.
Sherpuria has previously appeared on stage with several prominent BJP leaders, with photographs of these interactions circulating widely across social media. It is alleged that Sanjay Sherpuria utilized these photographs to deceive individuals into believing that he had close ties with senior BJP leaders, subsequently extracting significant sums of money from them in exchange for his purported influence. It is alleged that he was running a gang of frauds in the name of the biggest leaders of BJP.
Photographs depicting Sanjay Sherpuria alongside prominent personalities from various TV channels, including the BJP, have been widely circulated on social media. Sanjay Sherpuria has been captured in these photographs with several senior BJP leaders, such as Modi, Amit Shah, Mohan Bhagwat, Brijesh Pathak, and Anurag Thakur. Online commentary suggests that Sanjay Sherpuria may have been seeking a BJP ticket from Ghazipur in 2022.
Sherpuria had written a book titled ‘Divyadarshi Modi’ on Prime Minister Narendra Modi last year. Apart from this, he got his book ‘Hindu Dharma ki Dharohar Bhartiya Sanskriti’ released by Mohan Bhagwat. Sherpuria’s pictures with several Union ministers are viral on social media.
