Samrat Prithviraj box-office collection: Akshay Kumar’s ‘Samrat Prithviraj’ has got a very slow opening at the box office. Based on the story of Prithviraj Chauhan, the film has disappointed on day one. According to Bollywood Hungama, the first day collections of Samrat Prithviraj are in the range of Rs. 10.50 to 11.50 crores.
The condition of this film, made under the direction of Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi, can be gauged from the fact that in the morning and afternoon shows, only 15 percent seats in cinema halls have been filled.
The opening day collections are lower than Akshay Kumar’s previous release, Bachchan Paandey, which had opened in the Rs. 13 crore range.
The advance booking of the film was also not very good. Only 10,000 tickets were sold through advance booking. In such a situation, this debut film of Manushi Chillar is looking sluggish at the box office as compared to expectations. Whereas ‘Bhool Bhulaiya 2’, which was released two weeks ago, is showing its strength at the ticket window even on the 15th day.
For a film made on a budget as high as Prithviraj, the opening should have been above Rs. 16 crores, and this is certainly a case of underperformance on day one.
On the other hand, ‘Samrat Prithviraj’ has been released on 3750 screens in the country on Friday. Generally any big film releases on 2000 to 2500 screens. That is, to make money at the box office, then a formula also works by increasing the number of screens and increasing the ticket prices.
