Rs 40 lakh from UP government treasury to mobilize crowd for Amit Shah’s program: report

The PWD was asked to arrange Rs 40 lakh to mobilize the crowd at the foundation stone laying program of the State University of Azamgarh. However, the DM there has named the item ‘Transport’ in a letter to the Chief Engineer. Before giving this amount without any item, the engineers of PWD were in a dilemma. Later, after talking to the higher officials, the amount was given from the contingency fund.

The foundation stone of the state university in Azamgarh was on November 13. Union Home Minister Amit Shah was to be present as the chief guest. Azamgarh DM Rajesh Kumar wrote a letter to the Chief Engineer and Superintending Engineer of PWD, that in the program, arrangements have to be made for buses for transportation from other districts besides Azamgarh.

About Rs 40 lakh rupees are likely to be spent on this. This amount should be made available to the Divisional Transport Officer, Azamgarh at any cost. A copy of this letter was also sent to the Principal Secretary, PWD.

The letter from the DM to arrange Rs 40 lakh to mobilize the crowd at the foundation stone laying program of the state university in Azamgarh has been a topic of discussion among the engineers of PW.

PWD officials say that there is no provision with them to arrange funds for the transport item. No such demand has ever been made in any district before. Local departmental officers talked to the PWD headquarters and the government about this. A local official of PWD of Azamgarh said that after receiving instructions from higher officials, this amount was given from the contingency fund.
