PV Sindhu wins Singapore Open 2022 title, defeating Wang Zhi Yi 21-9, 11-21, 21-15 in the final

Indian badminton star PV Sindhu has won the title by defeating a Chinese player in the final of the Singapore Open. PV Sindhu defeated Wang Ji Yi of China 21-9, 11-21, 21-15 in the title deciding match that lasted three sets. This is Sindhu’s third title this year. Earlier, she has won the Korea Open and Swiss Open titles.

However, for the first time she has won the Singapore Open. She has become the second Indian woman player after Saina Nehwal to win this title. She is the third Indian to win this title. Before her, Saina Nehwal won the tournament in 2010 and Sai Praneeth in 2017.

Sindhu won in thrilling match
World number 11 player Wang Ji Yi’s Saina had to struggle a lot. However, in the end she won. Sindhu had a great start in this match and won the first game with a margin of 21-9 in just 12 minutes. Sindhu had scored 13 points in a row.

However, in the second game, the Chinese made a comeback and won the second set 21-11. Now the match was tied and the third set was the deciding winner. In the third set, there was a intense fight between the two players and in the end Sindhu won by a margin of 21-15. Earlier, Sindhu had defeated Seana Kawakami of Japan 21-15, 21-7 in the semi-final match.

It is a pleasure for India to see pV Sindhu getting back into shape ahead of the Commonwealth Games. Now Sindhu’s medal hopes in the Commonwealth Games have increased even more. Sindhu was already expected to perform well, but after winning the Singapore Open, the hopes have increased further.
