Prophet Controversy: Two killed in violent protests in Ranchi, curfew imposed in the affected area

Prophet Controversy: Former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma lit a spark of controversy by commenting against Mohammad Prophet. Now this spark has turned into a horrific fire. Protests took place in many cities of the country on Friday. In many places these demonstrations turned violent.

So far two people have lost their lives in the violence during the demonstration in Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand. More than a dozen people are reported to have been injured. Policemen including IPS officers were also injured, after which the administration imposed curfew under IPC section 144 in some parts of the city late in the evening.

Among the dead are 22-year-old Mohammad Kaifi and 24-year-old Mohammad Sahil. According to reports, 5 people including a police constable were injured in yesterday’s protest in Ranchi. They have been admitted to RIMS Hospital and is undergoing treatment.

According to news agency ANI, security forces are deployed in 12 police station areas of Ranchi along with the enforcement of section 144. The district administration has extended the suspension of internet services till tomorrow morning.
