Haridwar hate speeches against Muslims: The anti-Muslim campaign of hardline Hindutva leaders in India is getting a lot of criticism in the foreign media. It is being said that the Modi government has kept silence on the anti-Muslim hatred.
Hardline Hindutva leader Yeti Narasimhanand, who openly spoke hatred against Muslims, organized the Dharma Sansad in Haridwar from December 17 to 19 last week.
Video clips of the speech given in this Dharma Sansad have gone viral on social media. In the video clip, violence against Muslims and Hindus are being asked to take up arms.
Sharing this video clip, people from abroad are also taking a dig at the Indian government on social media.
Britain’s MP Naz Shah tweeted the video of the Hindu Yuva Vahini program of hatred against Muslims, writing, “This is not 1940’s Nazi Germany. This is 2021 in India. Calling for the killing of Muslims. This is happening now. For those who say it’s fringe group, Hitler was once also considered to be a part of the fringe. Where is the global outcry?”
Executive Director of Human Right Watch Kenneth Roth shared New York Times news article.
At the same time, CJ Werleman, foreign correspondent of Byline Times, has posted a video clip of the program of Hindu Yuva Vahini on Twitter. This clip also has a translation in English of the speech of hardline Hindutva leaders. Werleman has written a line from the video clip in English – We take oath to fight and kill to turn India into a Hindu only nation.”
First Turkish UFC fighter Alptekin Ozkilic wrote, “This is scary. How come nobody covers this?”
Audrey Truschke, Professor of South Asian History at Ruckers University in New Jersey, also tweeted the news related to it, writing, “In a society that wished to prevent genocide, events like this would end in arrests and not be repeated. In Modi’s India? BJP politicians participated. No arrests thus far.”
Emmy Awards winner film producer and author Melissa Jo Peltier wrote, “They’ve been heading this way for years now. Once such a promising democracy.
Is mass genocide next?”
On Thursday, the Uttarakhand Police has registered an FIR against Wasim Rizvi alias Jitendra Narayan Tyagi and others in this case.
