During the West Bengal assembly elections, a new controversy has arisen due to the alleged remarks of state BJP President Dilip Ghosh. Ghosh is seen in a video allegedly making misogynistic remark against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee that she should wear ‘Bermuda’ to show her injured leg. Ghosh has not named anyone, but it is believed that this has been said for Mamata Banerjee. TMC has called it a ‘levelless comment’. Women also expressed outrage over this in social media.
In this alleged video, Ghosh is heard saying at an election meeting in Purulia on Monday that the bandage was tied on the leg after the plaster was removed and she is showing everyone the leg.
Mahua Moitra slams Dilip Ghosh
The controversial statement sparked off raging criticism by Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders. The party’s Lok Sabha MP Mahua Moitra slammed Ghosh and called him a ‘pervert’. She tweeted: “@BJP WB Pres asks in public meeting why Mamatadi is wearing a saree, she should be wearing “Bermuda” shorts to display her leg better And these perverted depraved monkeys think they are going to win Bengal?”
Responding sharply to the BJP leader’s alleged remarks, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) said in a tweet in Bengali, “We can expect similar levelless comments from Dilip Ghosh.” It said, ‘His blasphemous remarks about a woman chief minister proves that Bengal BJP leaders do not know how to show respect for women. The mothers and sisters of Bengal will give a fitting reply to this insult of Mamta Banerjee on May 2.
MP Kakoli said – Ghosh spewing poison
In a tweet, Trinamool Congress MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar said, ‘It is now visible that the role of the BJP state president of Bengal has been reduced to just spewing poison. They have crossed all limits, from a sharp attack on the Chief Minister of Bengal to attacks on TMC workers. A shocking statement once again. ‘
