On one hand the main opposition party Congress is protesting, raising slogans against the Modi government on rising inflation. Godi journalists, on the other hand, are siding with the government and taunting the leaders of the opposition party itself.
The journalists whose job was to ask questions to the government, they themselves are sitting in the lap of the government. An example of this is Aaj Tak anchors Shweta Singh and Chitra Tripathi, who do not like the Congress protesting against the Modi government on the rising inflation in the country. Aaj Tak shared a video on its Twitter handle, in which anchor Shweta Singh is counting how many times Rahul Gandhi mentioned words like ED, and CBI in his press conference and how many times he mentioned the word ‘inflation’.
In the video, Shweta Singh says, “In the 33-minute press conference, the Congress mentioned the word ‘inflation’ 15 times in total … and in comparison he used words like ED, CBI, Income Tax, RSS, democracy ended 29 times.”
Imagine the journalists whose job it was to ask questions to the power, they themselves are taking the side of those in power. The journalists whose job was to become the voice of the people, they are questioning the opposition, as well as running propaganda in favor of the ruling party. So who will ask questions to this government?
This movement of Congress seems to be getting support on social media. Many people are asking questions to the government showing their support. Meanwhile, netizens have lashed out at Aaj Tak anchor Sweta Singh calling her puppet of the current regime.
A Twitter user tweeted, “No low is too low for @aajtak and @SwetaSinghAT A shameless bunch of trolls and paid propagandists masquerading as journalists. You guys dont have the guts to question the Govt on its abject failure on multiple governance fronts. You are paid for Gandhi and Congress bashing.”
Another user tweeted, “@aajtak do your channel have guts to talk about inflation, unemployment, fuel price hike, top of all issues drug haul reaching in MUNDRA PORT?.You have time to talk about how many times Congress mentioned ED,but NOT HAVE a minute to discuss about DRUG HAUL IN MUNDRA.”
