Mahua Moitra, who has been in limelight several times in the Parliament due to her flamboyant speech, has once again launched a scathing attack on the government. In the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, the TMC MP targeted the government on issues ranging from economy to ED’s action. Not only this, while asking who is Pappu, she also took a jibe at the BJP’s defeat in the Himachal Pradesh assembly elections. Mahua Moitra said, “This government tells every year in February that our country’s economy grows fastest in the world. But some facts tell who is the real Pappu. There has been a decrease in industrial production, manufacturing output.
Mamata Banerjee’s party TMC MP said that the government tells that 15 percent of the world’s FII is coming to India. But the truth is that in 9 years about 12 lakh people left India. In the first 10 months of this year alone, 1.82 lakh people left the country. After all, why are the rich people of the country taking citizenship of countries like Portugal and Senegal? Why are they spending crores of rupees for this. During this, Mahua Moitra also raised questions on ED’s raid. She said that out of 1800 raids so far, the number of people found guilty is only 0.5 per cent.
Mahua, MP from Krishna Nagar seat of Bengal, said that how is this government working? Is ED’s job only to harass people. What kind of agency is this, whose actions do not yield results. During this, she even raised questions on demonetisation. Mahua Moitra said that you had done demonetisation by saying that black money would be banned and cashless transactions would increase. But cash is still king. During this, she also questioned about the inflation of fertilizer and its excessive use. Mahua said that the national president of the ruling party could not win in his own state. Who is the Pappu now?
In her speech, Mahua Moitra also hit out at yoga guru and Patanjali founder Baba Ramdev for his comment on women’s clothes. She said, “A certain Jadi-buti Baba says publicly he likes women in saris, salwar and also nothing at all in the presence of the wife of a deputy chief minister of the ruling party. Hand on heart and ask yourselves, had any opposition leader said remotely anything similar, you would have been baying for their blood. The ruling party does not denounce it. There is no outrage. A convicted murderer and rapist is publicly giving sermons while out on parole and the leaders of the ruling party listen to it. You do not have the moral clarity to call out right from wrong. Who’s the Pappu now?”
Amidst loud cheering from Opposition benches, Moitra recited a couplet: “Sawaal yeh nahin ki bastiyan kisne jalaayi. Sawaal yeh hai ki paagal key haath mein maachis kisne di (The question is not who lit the fire, the question is who handed the matchbox to a crazy person)?”
