“Only Dhoni texted me when I left Test captaincy”: Virat Kohli during the press conference after Ind vs Pak Asia Cup 2022

Ind vs Pak Asia Cup 2022: The last one or two years have not been good at all for the Indian cricket team’s star batsman and former captain Virat Kohli. Along with the failure with the bat, his status in Team India has also dwindled since.

A year ago, where Virat Kohli was the captain of the team in all three formats, now he is part of the team only as a batsman. He has been under a lot of pressure due to the poor batting form and then the captaincy controversy, on which he is now expressing his pain. Kohli has said that only MS Dhoni supported him in that phase.

Speaking in the press conference after India’s defeat to Pakistan in the Asia Cup Super 4 stage, Kohli shared how Dhoni was the only one to reach out to him when he announced his Test captaincy resignation.

Virat said, “When I left Test captaincy, I got a message from only one person, with whom I played in the past. It was MS Dhoni. A lot of people have my number, a lot of people give me suggestions, a lot of people talk about my game on TV. But out of those people who had my number, I didn’t get a message from anyone else barring Dhoni.”
