Nupur Sharma absconding for 4 days as Mumbai Police hunts in Delhi

Suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma’s trouble, who made controversial remarks about Prophet Mohammad, does not seem to be ending soon. A team of Mumbai Police has reached Delhi to take Nupur Sharma into custody. However, according to sources, the whereabouts of the suspended BJP spokesperson is not known.

On May 28, a case was registered against Nupur Sharma by the Mumbai Police. The case against her was registered on the basis of a complaint by Irfan Sheikh, joint secretary of Raza Academy, a Muslim organisation. According to NDTV, sources said that a team of Mumbai Police is in Delhi to question Sharma, but she could not be found, her whereabouts are not known.

According to sources in the Maharashtra Home Ministry, Mumbai Police has enough evidence to arrest the former BJP spokesperson. Mumbai Police team is in Delhi for the last five days and is looking for Nupur Sharma. On this matter, Maharashtra Home Minister Dilip Walse Patil said that he hopes that Delhi Police will help Mumbai Police in this matter.

Kolkata Police has also registered a case against Nupur Sharma on the basis of complaint by Trinamool Congress Minority Cell General Secretary Abul Sohail. The Kolkata Police has summoned her to record statement on June 20. At the same time, Delhi Police has registered another FIR against Nupur Sharma for her remarks on Prophet Mohammad.

BJP had suspended party spokesperson Nupur Sharma after making controversial remarks about Prophet Mohammad during a debate on a TV channel. At the same time, countries like Iran, Iraq, Qatar, Saudi Arabia reacted strongly to this statement of Nupur Sharma. Several Gulf countries had summoned Indian ambassadors and condemned Nupur Sharma’s statement.
