“No Place For Right Wing Bigots”: Grand Nephew of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and Former WB BJP VP

Chandra Kumar Bose, the grandnephew of ‘Netaji’ Subhas Chandra Bose, has lashed out at the BJP and RSS, calling them right ‘wing bigots’. Bose had been vocal against the divisive politics of Narendra Modi led BJP government at centre.

On Tuesday, Chandra K Bose took to Twitter to express his anguish against the divisive ideology of BJP and RSS. He tweeted, “India is a Sovereign, Socialist, Secular and Democratic Republic- there’s no place for right wing bigots- India needs – Left of Centre government to work for the welfare of the people.”

Bose joined the BJP in 2016. He has contested two elections – the first being the West Bengal Legislative Assembly elections of 2016, when he stood against Mamata Banerjee in the Bhawanipur constituency. His second electoral loss came in the Lok Sabha Elections of 2019, where he lost to the TMC in the south Kolkata constituency.

In 2020, BJP dropped him from the post of vice-president after he criticised BJP for excluding Muslims from the controversial CAA/NRC saying it’s against Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s principles.

On being asked why is he raising questions at the BJP-led government, as he has been a part of it, he said: “I don’t like politics of the BJP, I follow Netaji’s ideology and do not compromise on it. I joined the BJP because I was told that Netaji’s ideology will be spread, but it has not happened. If they will tell me that it will not happen, I will leave the party.”

Bose was pragmatic about why the BJP took him into its fold and made him its state vice-president.
