Sudhir Joshi, SP of Dungarpur in Rajasthan said that this is the second time that the Noida Police obstructed their work. He said, “The local police asked our team to accompany them to the police station. Our team went to Noida Police Station and showed them the arrest warrant against Aman Chopra. After this, when the team reached Chopra’s house at Arihant Apartment, he was not found there.” Joshi alleged that the Noida Police had done the same to him a week back.
Responding to Joshi’s allegation, ACP-2 Central Noida Yogendra Singh said, “A team of Rajasthan Police had come to Bisrakh police station around 3 pm with a non-bailable warrant against Chopra. He completed the legal process and two of our personnel accompanied him. Chopra’s house was locked, after which they pasted the warrant outside the house.” Singh said that the people of Rajasthan Police themselves had come to the police station. We didn’t have any information about anyone’s arrival.
Rajasthan Police said that an FIR was registered against Chopra under IPC and IT Act on April 23 at Bichhiwada police station. Chopra had allegedly claimed in one of his shows that a centuries-old temple in Alwar was demolished to avenge the Jahangirpuri case.
This is not the first case of dispute between the state police. Recently a similar dramatic situation took place between Punjab-Haryana and Delhi Police. In one case, Punjab Police had come to Delhi to arrest BJP leader Tejinder Pal Singh Bagga. The Punjab Police, which was taking Bagga under arrest, was stopped by the Haryana Police. Later Delhi Police brought Bagga back to Delhi. During this, Punjab Police’s tussle with Delhi and Haryana Police was very much discussed.
