NCPCR summons Twitter India Director: The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has summoned Twitter for not filing an action taken report(ATR) against comedian Kunal Kamra for posting a parody and tampering with a patriotic song sung by a child during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Germany.

NCPCR had asked to take action against Kunal Kamra for posting the doctored video. The Commission has issued a letter to the Indian Director of Twitter on Tuesday asking him to submit an action taken report(ATR) on Wednesday. It has been said in the letter that in the letter sent on May 5, your office was asked to submit the action taken report within seven days of receiving it, but till now no response has been received.

Kamra had shared the video of Modi interacting with the child in Germany, but he used the song ‘Mahangai Dayan Khaye Jaat Hai’ instead of ‘Hey Janmabhoomi Bharat’, the child’s song before the prime minister. The child’s father took a jibe at Kamra and said that keep the poor child away from his dirty politics and correct his bad jokes.

Hitting back at the father of the child, Kunal Kamra tweeted, “The video is in the public domain by a news Organisation. The joke is not on your son, while you enjoy your son sing for his motherland to the most popular son, there are songs that he should listen to from people of his country also.”

On the other hand, the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights had said that the use of minors to advance political ideology is in violation of the provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015 and the Information Technology (Intermediate Guidelines and Digital Media Code of Conduct) Rules, 2021. Also, the commission had said that using children for such promotional purposes is injurious and injurious to their mental health.
