Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 is witnessing explosive games of many Indian cricketers. Dinesh Karthik, 36, has surprised everyone, who has scored a lot of runs while playing for RCB. But apart from him, there is another Indian legend who is performing even better than Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma this season. He is none other than Shikhar Dhawan, whose form has impressed former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif.
Compared to Burj Khalifa
Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan, opening for Punjab Kings (PBKS), once again proved his mettle in the tournament. He scored an unbeaten 88 off 59 balls against Ravindra Jadeja-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 38th match of the league. In such a situation, Mohammad Kaif praised Dhawan and compared him to Burj Khalifa, calling him the ‘Khalifa of T20’.
Mohammad Kaif praises Shikhar Dhawan
Kaif took to Twitter to share his thoughts where he said that if Dhoni is Thala and Kohli is King, then Dhawan is the Caliph of the T20 format and added that the left-handed batsman should be considered for India’s T20Is for ICC. Must be part of the team. The T20 World Cup will be played in Australia later this year. Kaif tweeted, “Dhoni Thala hai, Kohli King hain aur Shikhar? 6000 IPL runs, delivering under pressure, he is T20 ka Khalifa. He should play T20 World Cup. Don’t ask me where, if I was selector, I would tell you.”
Dhawan was bought by Punjab in the IPL 2022 mega auction for Rs 8.25 crore. Dhawan’s innings helped Punjab reach 187 as Chennai lost in reply by 11 runs. Dhawan had said after the match, ‘Once I am set up, I can hit boundaries in areas where I am confident. It’s all about putting pressure on the bowlers and getting boundaries while batting first. We don’t do that. Losing a lot of wickets, it was our conscious effort. I have become a senior in the team. I give a lot of input to the players and my captain on the field. Young people think too much, sometimes they start thinking too much. So I try to talk to him. I talk to him about how to achieve big in life.
