According to the information given on the website of Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity (DAVP), in the year 2016, the Modi government spent Rs 1264.26 crore on advertising. In the year 2017, this figure increased to 1313.59 crores. In these two years, the Finance Department has given the maximum number of advertisements. In 2016 and 2017 the department has spent Rs.612.51 crore on advertisement.
At the same time, in the year 2018, the government has spent a total of Rs 1179.35 crore on advertising. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting spent the maximum amount of advertisements this year. The ministry spent Rs 181.53 crore on advertising through different mediums. In the year 2019, the government spent Rs 707.91 crore. This year too, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has spent the maximum amount of Rs 137.84 crore on advertisements. After this, the Ministry of Family Welfare spent Rs 72.56 crore.

So far this year, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has spent 40.29 crores on advertisements. Till November 25 this year, the Ministry of Family Welfare has spent Rs 5.36 on advertisements.
If we talk about which ministry spent the most in these five years, then the answer is the Finance Ministry. The Finance Ministry has spent Rs 867.494 crore, Information and Broadcasting Ministry Rs 736.531 crore, Ministry of Family Welfare Rs 596.029 crore, Defense Ministry Rs 340.997 crore and Rural Development Ministry Rs 308.469 crore from 2016 to 25 November 2021.
It is worth mentioning that the ministry-wise advertisement figures include publicity, tender, recruitment, public information, disease, health information etc.
