Mamata Banerjee invited to ‘World Meeting for Peace’ in Rome along with Pope Francis, German Chancellor Angela Merkel

The President of the Community of Sant’Egidio, Prof Marco Impagliazzo has written a letter to West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee inviting her to come to Rome to attend an event.

Prof Marco Impagliazzo has invited Mamata Banerjee for the “World Meeting for Peace”, an event held in Rome on 6th and 7th October. Pope Francis, the Imam of Al-Azhar (Egypt) Ahmed Al Tayeb, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Italian political officials and Christian churches—many high representatives of religions around the world—all agreed to attend the event.

Mamata Banerjee had earlier gone to Rome when Mother Teresa was being given the title of saint. It is noteworthy that Mother Teresa was given the title of saint at an event held in St. Peter’s Square in Vatican City, Rome. CM Banerjee had gone to Rome to participate in this program as the Chief Minister of Bengal. Many eminent personalities of Bengal also went with her in this program. However, there has been no response from Mamata Banerjee on this invitation so far.

Earlier in 2018, WB CM had visited Germany and Italy. Banerjee had participated in the program of Indo-German Commerce Industries in Germany. Along with this, took part in Shardotsav and World Bang Commerce Conference in Italy.

Let us tell you that this is the third term of Mamata Banerjee in Bengal. She became the CM of Bengal on 16 November 2011, since then she has remained in this post till date. In the last election, BJP failed to defeat her even after many efforts. Before becoming the Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee had been an MP from Bengal for 7 times. She has also handled the responsibility of Ministry of Railways, Coal and Sports at the Centre. Earlier, Mamata Banerjee has also received invitations in many foreign universities.
