Kanwariyas lynch an army jawan: A Kanwariya was killed in a dispute between Kanwariyas. The youth was posted in the Jat Regiment of the Army and had come to Haridwar to take Kanwar along with his companions on leave. Karthik Baliyan (25), a resident of Sisauli village of Muzaffarnagar district, was posted in Gujarat in the Jat regiment of the army.

In the holy month of Sawan, he had come home on leave and had come to Haridwar along with his friend Omendra, son Pawan Singh to take kanwar on bike. On Tuesday both the friends were returning. It was told that some Kanwariyas of Haryana stuck their bike in front of Karthik’s bike on the flyover built at the turn of Nagla Imarti village on the highway.

On this there was an argument on both the sides. After this, five Kanwariyas from Haryana attacked Karthik with sticks and sharp weapons. In this he was seriously injured. The police took the injured to a private hospital by ambulance. Doctors sent him to Roorkee Civil Hospital.

Doctors at Roorkee hospital declared him brought dead. Inspector Rajiv Rauthan says that the spot is of Civil Lines Kotwali area but Mangalore police had reached the spot. The dead body has been taken and sent to the mortuary.

A case of culpable homicide has been registered against 15-20 unidentified kanwariyas in the death of the Army Jawan. The numbers of two heavy vehicles have been given to the police. The CCTV police around the spot is engaged in scouting. The Civil Lines Kotwali was informed by Rajendra, a resident of Sisauli Bhunrakalan Muzaffarnagar, that a group of them was returning to the destination with dak kanwar. In which there were eighty-nine people. Karthik (25) son Yogendra was also included in the group.

Those people were moving ahead with Gangajal. Around 6:30 am, the Kanwariyas riding the canter of Haryana number started harassing Karthik. It went on like this for some distance. Due to the traffic jam, the vehicles of the group moved back and forth. Meanwhile, the attackers came together and attacked Karthik. He suffered serious injuries in the attack with the baton. Karthik was taken to a private hospital in Mangalore.

Where doctors referred Karthik to the civil hospital. His friends took Karthik to the civil hospital with them. Where the doctors declared Karthik dead and told that he died due to severe head injury and excessive bleeding. Inspector Devendra Singh Chauhan said that a case has been registered against 15-20 unidentified kanwariyas riding HR numbers on charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder.

Police have detained five suspects in connection with the killing of an army soldier in a dispute during Kanwar. Their interrogation is on. The police is waiting for the post-mortem report for further action. It is being told that the suspects also disputed in Muzaffarnagar.

At around 6.30 am in Civil Lines Kotwali and Mangalore Kotwali area, a dispute broke out after a clash over vehicle movement between Sisauli, Muzaffarnagar and Kanwariyas of Haryana. Kanwariyas from both the regions had come with a group of people from their village.
