Kanhaiya Kumar and Jignesh Mevani to join Congress on 28 Nov on the occasion of Bhagat Singh Jayanti !

Former Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union president Kanhaiya Kumar and Gujarat’s independent MLA Jignesh Mevani are likely to join the Congress by the end of this month. Reliable sources associated with the Congress gave this information on Saturday. Sources say that if the ongoing turmoil in the Punjab Pradesh Congress ends completely in the next few days, then Kanhaiya and Jignesh may join the Congress on September 28, the birth anniversary of Shaheed Bhagat Singh.

According to sources, Hardik Patel, working president of Gujarat Pradesh Congress, is mediating the talks between these two youth leaders and the Congress leadership. “If the political situation in Punjab Congress becomes completely normal, then Kanhaiya and Jignesh may join the Congress on September 28,” a Congress source said.

Kanhaiya Kumar, who originally hails from Bihar, came into limelight after his arrest in JNU for allegedly raising anti-national slogans. He had contested the last Lok Sabha election from Begusarai Lok Sabha seat in Bihar as a CPI candidate against Union Minister Giriraj Singh, however he lost. On the other hand, Jignesh, who belongs to the Dalit community, is an independent MLA from Vadgam assembly constituency in Gujarat.
