Former president of Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union (JNUSU) and CPI leader Kanhaiya Kumar will join the Congress party today. Kanhaiya will be given party membership at the Congress headquarters. It is being told that during this time former Congress National President Rahul Gandhi will also be present.
The Congress, which has lost many elections, has now started preparing to change itself. The eye of the party is also on the assembly elections along with the Lok Sabha. To win, the party is going to bet on youth along with caste equations. Calculations are being made for the victory in the 2024 elections. Kanhaiya Kumar is being included in the party.
It is believed that Kanhaiya can be given an important responsibility of Bihar Congress. Before joining Congress, Kanhaiya Kumar will visit Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh Park, ITO, Delhi at 2:30 pm. Here he will garland the statue of Bhagat Singh. After that he will reach the Congress headquarters. After taking membership, he will also hold a press conference at Delhi Congress Headquarters at 3:30 pm. Will talk about the reasons for leaving CPI and joining Congress.
In the last 5 assembly elections, Congress has not got any significant success in Bihar. In the February 2005 assembly elections, 10 seats were won, which was reduced to 9 in October 2005. In the 2010 assembly elections, the Congress had to be satisfied with just 4 seats. In the 2015 assembly elections, when the Congress became a part of the grand alliance with RJD and JDU, it won 27 seats. Even after being in the Grand Alliance in the 2020 assembly elections, the Congress could win only 19 seats. Whereas, Congress got one seat in the Lok Sabha elections 2019. Seeing the situation in Bihar, Congress now wants to bring Kanhaiya as a new leadership.
Kanhaiya Kumar’s Begusarai connection
Kanhaiya Kumar belongs to Begusarai of Bihar. In 2015, Kanhaiya Kumar became the president of JNU Students’ Union. Suddenly came into limelight after the alleged anti-national slogans raised in JNU. He also tried his luck from Begusarai in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. From there he lost to Giriraj Singh of BJP. He was defeated by a huge margin of 4 lakh 22 thousand votes. Begusarai has the largest number of Bhumihar caste voters and Kanhaiya Kumar is also a Bhumihar. Congress needs a new face in Bihar. The Congress feels that as a student leader, Kanhaiya has organization experience.
