Kangana Ranaut and Times Now in legal trouble; Case filed against actress for insulting ‘freedom fighters’

Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut, who is facing all-round criticism after her remarks calling freedom a ‘Bheekh’, and the channel airing her statement are now in legal trouble. A case has been registered against Kangana regarding her statement of ‘Begging in Freedom’.

Jodhpur Mahila Congress Committee President Manisha Panwar said in the complaint that Kangana Ranaut, through her statement, insulted the freedom fighters and the people of the country, which comes under the category of ‘sedition’.

Panwar said in the complaint, “The whole world looks at India’s freedom struggle and its fighters with high respect. It is also a fact that thousands of people sacrificed their lives for this freedom and by calling their sacrifice ‘Bheekh’ they have insulted the martyrs, their descendants and every Indian citizen.”

She said, “Her statement was a “deliberate move” from a public forum that has hurt the sentiments of Indians.” She adds that her statement falls under the “category of sedition”.

At the same time, local Shastri Nagar police station SHO Pankaj Raj Mathur said that the memorandum given by the Mahila Congress representative and the city MLA has raised objections to the statement of actress Kangana Ranaut. A complaint has been registered and appropriate action will be taken based on the investigation.

During a conversation with Times Now journalist Navika Kumar, Kangana said, “If freedom is found in begging, can it be freedom?” Kangana said- “Freedom got in 1947 was begging, real freedom got in 2014.”

Kangana further said- “Savarkar, Rani Laxmibai, leader Subhash Chandra Bose if I talk about these people, these people knew that blood will flow but also remember that one Indian should not shed the blood of another Indian. They paid the price of freedom, of course. But that was not freedom, it was begging. The freedom I got was given in 2014.

On this statement of the actress, the people sitting in the audience there started applauding. Journalist Navika Kumar said, “That’s why everyone calls you a saffron.” In response, Kangana says- “After this I am going to have 10 more cases.”
