Benjamin Chew said, ‘We cannot explicitly disclose any lawyer-client interactions, but as Mr. Depp testified and as we both clarified in our respective closings that It was never about money. It was about getting his reputation back and he has done that.
Johnny and Amber got married in the year 2015. Before this, both of them had also dated for years. However, after a year of marriage, the rift started in their relationship. Amber had accused Johnny of domestic violence and after much turmoil, the couple divorced in the year 2017. The legal battle between the two started when Amber mentioned domestic violence in an article in The Washington Post in 2018. After this, Johnny filed a defamation case against the ex-wife.

The trial of this defamation case began in April 2022 and the verdict was delivered on June 1. The jury found that Amber could not substantiate any allegations made against Johnny with evidence.
