Recently, Karen, who won the best player award in T20 World Cup, was bought by Punjab Kings with a record amount.

Earlier, South African all-rounder Chris Morris became the costliest player of IPL in 2021 when Rajasthan Royals bid Rs 16.25 crore for him. Australian all-rounder Cameron Green was bought by Mumbai Indians in the IPL auction for Rs 17.50 crore, becoming the second most expensive player in the history of the league.

At the same time, England’s Test captain Ben Stokes was bought by the Chennai Super Kings with an amount of 16.25 crores, there was a long bid between Chennai and Kolkata Knight Riders for Stokes but the final bet was with Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s CSK.
