IPL 2022, MI vs RR: Rajasthan Royals outclassed Mumbai Indians to register their second of the tournament on the trot. Jos Buttler smashed a scintillating century as Mumbai Indians failed to chase the target of 194. With the win, Rajasthan Royals have also climbed to the top of the points table, while Mumbai Indians’ misery continues with now wins so far.
2nd April is a double header in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. The first match was played between Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai. Mumbai Indians captain Rohit won the toss and elected to bowl. Batting first, Rajasthan Royals scored 193 for 8 in 20 overs. Chasing the target, Mumbai Indians could only manage 178 runs for 8 wickets in 20 overs.
Mumbai have stayed true to their character of being the slow-starters. However, they would feel that they were in with a great chance when Kishan and Varma wer going. Both the young batters notched up their respective fifties but failed to carry on. However, they lost the game when, David and Sams lost their wicket in one over against Chahal and after that it was too much for Pollard to do all by himself.
Opening the innings after being sent into bat, Buttler hit a whirlwind 100 off 68 balls, only his second ton in the history of the IPL. He struck 11 boundaries and five sixes during his knock. Besides Buttler, Shimron Hetmyer (35 off 14) looked in destructive form while skipper Sanju Samson (30 off 21) too got a start. Jasprit Bumrah (3/17) was the pick of the bowlers for MI.
Rohit Sharma has not made any changes in his playing XI. At the same time, Sanju Samson has made Navdeep Saini a part of the playing XI in place of Nathan Coulter-Nile.
This is the second match of both the teams this season. Rajasthan defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 61 runs in their first match. At the same time, Mumbai had to face defeat against Delhi Capitals in their first match. Mumbai Indians’ highest score against Rajasthan Royals is 212 runs, while the lowest score is 92 runs. Rajasthan’s highest score against Mumbai is 208 runs, while the lowest score is 90 runs. In the matches between Rajasthan and Mumbai, the captains of both the teams i.e. Sanju Samson and Rohit Sharma have beaten the bowlers fiercely.
