IPL 2022, DC vs RR: Rajasthan Royals edged past Delhi Capitals by 15 runs in a match that sparked a huge no-ball controversy in the last over. Needing 36 runs off the last two overs, pacer Prasidh Krishna bowled a wicket maiden and left a mountain to climb for the DC batter in the last over
In the 34th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, Rajasthan Royals defeated Delhi Capitals by 15 runs. In this match played at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant won the toss and elected to bowl.
Batting first, Rajasthan Royals scored 222 for 2 in 20 overs. This is the highest score of this season. Chasing the target, DC could only make 207 runs for 8 wickets 20 overs. Delhi Capitals needed 36 runs in the last 6 balls. Rovman Powell hit 3 sixes in the first 3 balls.
However, there was a dispute regarding the no-ball not being given to the third ball. The umpire refused to check the no-ball (above the waist). Pant got angry. He started calling Powell and Kuldeep Yadav off the field. He started telling Powell and Kuldeep to come back if the no ball is not bowled.
However, coach Praveen Amre reached the ground. There was a little argument between Butler and Pant as well. Buttler also looked quite annoyed. The matter was somehow settled, but by then Powell’s contractions had probably worsened. Perhaps this was the reason why Powell lost his wicket on the last ball as well.
Earlier, Jos Buttler scored a century and Devdutt Padikkal scored a half-century for Rajasthan. Butler scored his third century in IPL 2022. He got out after scoring 116 runs. Sanju Sasman remained unbeaten on 46 off 19 balls. He hit 5 fours and 3 sixes during his innings.
Rishabh Pant did not change his playing XI for this match. Sanju Samson too did not make any changes in his playing XI.
