IPL 2022, DC vs PBKS: In the 32nd match of the Indian Premier League 2022 (IPL 2022), Delhi Capitals (DC) defeated Punjab Kings (PBKS) by 9 wickets. Delhi won the toss and elected to bowl first at the Baybourne Stadium in Mumbai. Punjab team scored 115 runs for 10 wickets in 20 overs. Delhi achieved the target of 116 runs in 10.3 overs for the loss of 1 wicket.
Prithvi Shaw and David Warner got off to a great start for Delhi. Both took the team’s score beyond 50 in just 3.3 overs. Both added 81 runs in the powerplay. The team got its first blow in the seventh over. Rahul Chahar sent Shaw to the pavilion. 100 runs were completed in the 9th over. David Warner remained unbeaten on 60 and Sarfaraz Khan scored 12 runs.
Punjab batsmen disappointed. None of the batsmen could score a half-century. There was a time whether the team would be able to score even 100 runs or not. The team got its first blow in the fourth over. Lalit Yadav sent Shikhar Dhawan to the pavilion. In the fifth over, Mustafizur Rahman sent Mayank Agarwal to the pavilion. In the 13th over, Akshar sent Jitesh Sharma to the pavilion. In the 14th over, Kuldeep sent Kagiso Rabada and Nathan Ellis to the pavilion. The eighth wicket fell in the 15th over. Khaleel Ahmed sent Shahrukh Khan to the pavilion. In the 18th over, Lalit Yadav sent Rahul Chahar to the pavilion. Arshdeep Singh was run out on the last ball of the innings. There was a change in the Delhi team. Sarfaraz Khan got the chance in place of Mitchell Marsh. There were two changes in the Punjab team. Mayank Agarwal came in place of Prabhsimran Singh and Nath Ellis in place of Odeon Smith.
The Delhi team is in the grip of Covid. Tim Seifert was also found positive just before the match between Punjab and Delhi. A total of six cases have been reported in the team so far. The venue of the match had to be changed on Tuesday due to five members of the team including Mitchell Marsh being infected with Corona. Earlier this match was to be held in Pune. The rules of IPL to Corona say that in case of a team being affected by Corona, the match can be organized if at least 12 players are available. Of these, seven must be Indians. If not, the match can be organized even later.
