Actress Taapsee Pannu has slammed Sachin Tendulkar and others for coming out against pop singer Rihanna for supporting the farmers’ strike.
Taapsee Pannu asked on Twitter not to be a propaganda teacher. If a tweet exploits your unity, a joke exploits your faith, or a show exploits your religious beliefs, then you have to work to strengthen your value system, and do not be a propagandist who teaches others what to say, ”Taapsee tweeted.

Taapsee’s strongly-worded response came hours after several usual suspects in Bollywood and Indian sports took to Twitter to share identical social media posts to counter the support extended by Rihanna and other international celebrities to India’s protesting farmers. Notable among them were Bollywood actors Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn, cricketers Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane and Shikhar Dhawan, singer Lata Mangeshkar and badminton player Saina Nehwal.
Earlier, several ‘celebrities’, including Sachin Tendulkar, said that the farmers’ strike was an internal affair of India and could be seen by outsiders. He was also told not to try to represent the country. They had said that it was a campaign against India.
The tweets were with the hashtags #IndiaTogether and #IndiaAgainstPropaganda.
These celebrities had to face netizens’ wrath and were quickly dubbed ‘spineless’ since thye had not uttered a word on the farmers’ strike up until now.
Many believed that they were roped in to share identical tweets in favour of the Indian government to hide the latter’s embarrassment caused by the outpouring of international support to the farmers’ protests.
Pop singer Rihanna tweeted yesterday in support of farmers who have been protesting for more than two months against the agricultural laws passed by the Center. As this became a hot topic, many people came out in support and criticism of Rihanna.
Rihanna had also criticized the central government for cutting off internet facilities at the Delhi border as part of its crackdown on farmers’ protests. Following this, the issue was discussed globally as the Sangh Parivar organizations came out with a cyber attack on Rihanna.
Chris Brown, the former partner who attacked them following Rihanna’s tweet, was trending on Twitter. In 2009, Chris Brown reported that Rihanna was physically and mentally abused internationally. Numerous tweets have appeared on Twitter justifying these domestic abuses.

After Rihanna, environmentalist Greta Tanberg and Meena Harris, daughter-in-law of US Vice President Kamala Harris, came out in support of the farmers’ protest. At the same time, they were critical of the central government’s actions, including the suspension of the Internet.
