The Delhi Police argued before the court objecting to Disha Ravi’s bail application that climate activist Disha Ravi was preparing a toolkit with Khalistan supporters. Not only this, it was part of a global conspiracy to discredit India and create unrest in the country under the guise of demonstrations by farmers.
At the same time, the defense rejected the arguments of the police and said that the direction is being implicated in a fake case. Additional Sessions Judge Dharmendra Rana reserved the verdict on the bail application till Tuesday after hearing both the sides.
The police objected to the bail saying that it was a serious matter. This is not just a toolkit. The real plan was to discredit India and create unrest in the country. The Delhi Police alleged that Ravi deleted chats, emails and other evidences on WhatsApp and she was aware of what legal action she might face.
Global conspiracy to create disturbance under the cover of farmers’ demonstrations
The police argued before the court that if Disha had not done any wrongdoing, why did she hide her tracks (messages) and erase the evidence. Police alleged that this showed her nefarious plan. The Delhi Police also alleged that Disha was part of the Indian chapter of a global conspiracy to discredit India, create unrest under the guise of peasant demonstrations. She was in contact with Khalistan supporters to prepare and share the toolkit.
Disha Ravi’s lawyer rejected the police’s argument that there is no evidence that the toolkit on farmers’ protest is responsible for the violence on 26 January.
“If highlighting farmers’ protest globally is sedition, I’m better in jail,” Disha Ravi said through her counsel on Saturday.
No evidence of association with banned Sikh organization
Ravi’s lawyer also denied the police allegation that his client had links with the banned Khalistani organization. He said that there is no such evidence. He said that even if Ravi met someone, she does not mean that she is a separatist. He said that while the Delhi Police gave permission for the farmers to march, while the police is claiming that Ravi asked people to join, how did she become a traitor.
Questions raised on the FIR against Disha Ravi
No such person has been arrested in connection with the violence on the Red Fort, who says that he was motivated by the toolkit. He claimed that there is no evidence to show that the toolkit is responsible for the violence during the farmers’ march. He also questioned the FIR and stressed that people can have a different view on a subject. The FIR alleges that yoga and tea are being targeted. Is it a crime?
Case filed for treason and other charges
Significantly, the lower court sent Disha to judicial custody for three days on Friday after the five-day police custody period ended. Disha was arrested by the Cyber Cell of Delhi Police from Bengaluru last Saturday. Disha has been booked under sedition and other charges.
