Satya Pal Malik, the former Governor of Jammu and Kashmir and the current Governor of Meghalaya, made a big claim on Thursday. He said that when he was the governor of Jammu and Kashmir, he was offered a bribe of Rs 300 crore. The offer was to be made in lieu of clearing two files of ‘Ambani’ and ‘person affiliated with RSS’, but they rejected the deal.
At an event in Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan, Malik said, “After going to Kashmir, two files came to me. One was Ambani’s file and the other was of an RSS affiliate who was a minister in the previous Mehbooba Mufti-BJP coalition government. He was also very close to PM Modi. Malik further said, ‘I was informed by the secretaries that there was a scam in this and then I canceled both the deals alternately. The secretaries told me you can get Rs 150 crore each for clearing the files. But I told them that I have come with five kurta-pyjamas and will leave with only that.”
The present Governor of Meghalaya, Malik also supported the ongoing farmers’ movement against the Centre’s agricultural laws and said that he is ready to step down and stand with the farmers if the farmers’ agitation continues. It is being told that the video of this statement of Satyapal Malik has also gone viral on social media.
Malik did not elaborate on the above two files, but one file is believed to be related to the scheme for health insurance for government employees, pensioners and accredited journalists. For this, the state government had tied up with Anil Ambani group company Reliance General Insurance. In October 2018, Satya Pal Malik, as the governor of Jammu and Kashmir, had canceled this agreement with Reliance General Insurance, because there was some breakup in this health insurance scheme of the employees.
Malik said that as a precaution, he took time from Prime Minister Modi and told him about these two files, as those who were involved had taken the PM’s name. Malik told that he directly told the PM that he is ready to quit, but will not approve these files. Praising PM Modi, Governor Satya Pal Malik said that the PM asked him not to compromise on corruption.
Malik alleged that Kashmir is the most corrupt place in the country. Four to five percent commission is demanded all over the country, but 15 percent is demanded in Kashmir. He said that during his time no big case of corruption came to the fore in Kashmir. He said, ‘Since I am a poor man, I can fight with any powerful man in the country. There is no home to live in after retirement, so there is nothing to worry about.
