In Jamnagar, a statue of Nathuram Godse was erected by the Hindu Sena on the occasion of Nathuram Godse’s death anniversary. The Hindu Sena meeting was held on September 8 where it was decided that a statue of Nathuram Godse to be installed on the occasion of Godse’s death anniversary on 15th November and a message was conveyed that the youth of India should not hesitate even if they have to sacrifice for the nation, religion and culture or climb the gallows.
Let us tell you that Nathuram Godse was sentenced to death on 10 February 1949 for the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi, after which Nathuram Godse was hanged on 15 November 1949. On this occasion, a statue of Godse was installed in Jamnagar, Gujarat by a right-wing fringe group called Hindu Sena.
However, the Hindu Sena had announced the installation of a statue of Nathuram Godse on September 8 itself. After the local administration did not give a place to install the idol, this statue was installed in the Hanuman Ashram of Jamnagar.

Seeing the statue of Gandhi’s killers installed, Congress leaders reached the ashram on Tuesday morning and they demolished Godse’s statue. Jamnagar Congress President Digubha Jadeja and his associates vandalized the statue. Congress leaders had put saffron straps around their necks while breaking.
