‘Govt can’t do anything, Rising fuel prices due to Russia-Ukraine war’: Nitin Gadkari

The prices of fuels are increasing continuously. This has a huge impact on the pockets of the consumers. Before the elections, the prices of fuels were stable, but as soon as the government was formed in the five states, the prices of petrol and diesel are increasing continuously. The BJP, which formed the government in four states, has also changed its tone regarding inflation. BJP says that the government cannot do anything regarding the increase in the price of petrol and diesel.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari in the BJP government has justified the hike in oil prices thrice in the last four days. He said on Friday that the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine has increased oil prices in the international market. At the same time, he also said that the situation is beyond the control of the Government of India.

During the media conference, when Road and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari was asked about the increased prices of petrol and diesel, he said that 80 percent of oil is imported in India. In the midst of Russia-Ukraine war, oil prices in the international market have gone up and there is nothing we can do about it.

Nitin Gadkari further said, “We have been emphasizing on making India self-reliant since 2004, with which we need to make our own fuel, emphasizing on the need to develop indigenous energy generation capabilities.”

Let us inform that the prices of petrol and diesel have increased by 80 paise on Saturday as well. It is worth noting that in the last five days, the prices of petrol and diesel have been increased by the oil companies. Petrol and diesel prices have been increased for the fourth time within five days.

Gadkari says that the situation is not under the control of the government. The fuel price was under the control of the government when there were elections in the five states, but as soon as the government was formed in these states, the price of petrol and diesel becomes out of the control of this government.
