Government to sell assets of BSNL-MTNL, base price kept at Rs 970 crore

BSNL-MTNL on sale: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been loudly claiming in public forums that he will not allow the country to be sold, but the economic policies that his government is following to increase the income of the exchequer, it is clear that he wants to sell the country fast. So far, through political parties and social media, the Modi government has been accused of selling government properties. Now the government has started the process of selling the immovable properties of public sector telecom companies BSNL and MTNL.

According to the documents released on the website of Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM), Government of India, a base price of Rs 970 crore has been kept for selling real estate assets of MTNL and BSNL.

The central government has set a base price of Rs 970 crore for selling real estate assets of telecom company MTNL and BSNL (BSNL-MTNL) under the asset monetization scheme. According to the documents released on the website of Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM), Government of India, Rs 660 crore for the sale of assets of BSNL (BSNL) in Hyderabad, Chandigarh, Bhavnagar and Kolkata, Vasari Hill of MTNL, Goregaon in Mumbai. A reserve price of Rs 310 crore has been kept for the sale of the located property.

MTNL’s 20 flats located in Oshiwara have also been put up for sale as part of the company’s asset monetization plan. Their reserve price ranges from Rs 52.26 lakh to Rs 1.59 crore.

BSNL Chairman and Managing Director PK Purwar said that the plan is to complete the entire process of selling the property in one to one-and-a-half months. He told that this is the first scheme of asset monetization. Under this scheme 20 flats of MTNL in Oshiwara will also be sold under Asset Monetization Scheme. The price of these flats has been kept from Rs 52.26 lakh to Rs 1.59 crore. The e-auction of MTNL properties will be held on December 14.

Plan to earn 10,000 crores by selling assets of BSNL-MTNL

The government is looking to monetize land parcels worth Rs 10,000 crore through the new e-bidding platform. Business Standard was previously reported. The pipeline of land assets has been prepared after discussions with consultants appointed by DIPAM, which include CBRE South Asia, Deloitte Town Tohmatsu India, Boston Consulting Group, JLL Property Consultants (India), Knight Frank India, among others.
