Former Navy Chief fires sharp questions at Anand Mahindra on the promises of giving jobs to ‘Agniveers’

Industrialist Anand Mahindra has been in the news since tweeting in support of the Agneepath scheme. In a tweet made on the morning of Monday 20 June, he said that he will give work to Agniveers in his company. Many people have welcomed this tweet of Anand Mahindra. Inspired by him, Harsh Goenka of Seat Tire also announced to give jobs to Agniveers in his company. But in the meantime many people have also raised questions on Anand Mahindra. Former Navy chief Arun Prakash is one of them.

On Mahindra’s tweet, Arun Prakash replied, “Why await this new scheme? Has the Mahendra Group, so far, reached out to thousands of highly skilled & disciplined ex-Servicemen (Jawans & Officers), retiring every year & desperately seeking a 2nd career. It would be nice to get some statistics from your Group.”

Actually, this tweet of Admiral Arun Prakash (R.) came like a taunt on Anand Mahindra. Mahindra had said that Agniveer, who retires from the army after 4 years of service, will offer him a job in his company. On this, retired Navy chief Arun Prakash asked how many of those who have retired so far have been given jobs by the Mahindra Group?

Here, Arun Prakash got his support from former Air Vice Marshal Manmohan Bahadur. He also asked for figures from Anand Mahindra. He tweeted, “Anand Mahindra Sir, could we have some stats as requested by the ex Naval Chief? I have retired after forty years in service listening to such promises.”

Till the time of writing this news, there was no reply tweet from Anand Mahindra on the question of these ex-servicemen. Some other people also raised questions on his offer. A Twitter user named Sandeep Kumar asked Anand Mahindra on which position he would hire Agniveers in Mahindra Group.

However, on Sandeep’s question, Anand Mahindra replied. He said, “There are immense opportunities for employment of Agniveers in the corporate sector. With leadership, teamwork and physical training, Agniveer is ready to market as a professional. They can be installed anywhere in the industry in operations, administration or supply chain.”

Mahindra Group chairperson Anand Mahindra has announced that he will give a chance to Agniveers to work in his company. He said that he is saddened by the violence taking place over this scheme.

Anand Mahindra wrote in his tweet of 20 June, “Saddened by the violence over the Agneepath scheme. Last year when the scheme was under consideration, I had said and reiterated that discipline and skill will make Agniveers excellently employable. Mahindra Group such trained And is looking forward to recruit capable youth.”
