Vivek Agnihotri’s press conference: The Kashmir Files director Vivek Agnihot has become an important flag-bearer of the vicious Hindutva ideology in India, particularly after the BJP came to power at the Centre in 2014. Such is the bankruptcy of talent in the current BJP that the saffron party has looked at him and his actor wife Pallavi Joshi, seeking them to bail the central government out during key crisis.
The director had recently hit out at Wikipedia, for calling the film which highlights the story of the 1990 genocide of Kashmiri Pandits as false and fictional. Now Vivek has alleged that a group of foreign journalists had invited him to address a press conference on his blockbuster film but it was canceled after some powerful media members raised objections.
Vivek Agnihotri claims that a group of foreign journalists had called him to address a press conference on the film ‘The Kashmir Files’. Later, when the press conference was objected to by powerful media groups, the group canceled it. Now Vivek has decided to organize a separate press conference to protest against the ‘undemocratic’, ‘anti-free-speech’ and ‘agenda driven’ act.
In a video posted on Twitter, Vivek Agnihotri said, “Yesterday, an unusual, shocking and extremely undemocratic thing happened to me. I became the victim of a hate-campaign and my free speech was sent to the watchdog of Free Speech, Media. banned by.
The director said, “A few days ago, Global Kashmiri Pandits informed me that the Foreign Correspondent’s Club in New Delhi was very keen to host me for a press conference as many foreign media wanted me to speak about ‘The Kashmir Files’ and the truth of Kashmiri Pandits.” He said that a press conference was scheduled on May 5 at 7 PM at Foreign Correspondent’s Club, New Delhi.
Agnihotri further said, “Then yesterday I got his call, the Speaker said that the event has to be canceled because some very powerful media has strongly objected to this conference and threatened to resign en masse if allowed. The club’s management surrendered to agenda-driven, anti-free speech and anti-truth. And canceled the press conference in an undemocratic manner.”
Agnihotri said he has decided to hold an alternative press conference “in the interest of India, democracy, free speech and truth”. He has invited Indian and foreign media to Press Club of India, New Delhi on 5th May.
Let us tell you that ever since Vivek Agnihotri’s film ‘The Kashmir Files’ was released, it has been in the news for many reasons. While people are praising it and the film has done well at the box office, some people allege that many things have been exaggerated in this film.
