FIR registered against Ranveer Singh for ‘hurting sentiments of women’ with his nude photoshoot

A police complaint has been filed against actor Ranveer Singh for a nude photoshoot. According to media reports, an NGO in Mumbai has complained to Ranveer Singh accusing him of hurting the sentiments of women. The complaint letter has been given at Chembur Police Station. The NGO has demanded registration of a case under various sections of the Information Technology Act and IPC. On Monday an FIR has been registered against the actor in Mumbai’s Chembur police station for ‘hurting the sentiments of women’.

Under which sections the FIR was registered?
According to information given by news agency ANI, an FIR has been registered against actor Ranveer Singh under sections 292 (sale of obscene books, etc.) 293, 509 of the IPC and sections of the IT Act.

Who complained?
Lalit Shyam, who runs a non-governmental organization (NGO), has lodged an FIR against the actor at Mumbai’s Chembur police station. Lalit has alleged that after seeing such bold pictures of Ranveer Singh, shame will arise in the minds of women. For this reason, he has also demanded to remove bold pictures of Ranveer from Twitter and Instagram.

Can be jailed for five years
According to media reports, there is a provision of imprisonment for 5 years under section 292 of IPC and 3 years under section 293. At the same time, under IT Act 67A, there can be a punishment of 5 years. That is, if the charges are proved, Ranveer Singh can be sentenced to at least five years.
