“Every Rupee In My Foundation…”: Sonu Sood breaks his silence on IT raid controversy

Bollywood’s famous actor Sonu Sood, who made media headlines last year by helping helpless people in the lockdown implemented due to Corona virus (Covid-19) pandemic, has been in discussion since last week regarding the survey of Income Tax Department. He has been accused by IT officials of tax evasion of Rs 20 crore. Now Sonu Sood has shared a post on social media on this issue.

Sharing a long note, Sonu Sood wrote in his tweet, “Easy journey takes place even in tough roads, every Indian’s prayers seem to have an effect.”

In his long post, the actor wrote, “You don’t always have to stand your ground while doing it yourself. I am fortunate that I could serve the people of India with all my strength and heart. Every rupee present in my foundation is for saving precious lives and for the needy. Along with this, on several occasions, I have encouraged the advertising brands to donate my fees so that there is never any shortage of money.”

Sonu Sood further wrote in his post, “I was busy hosting some guests and hence was not available to serve you since last 4 days. Now I am once again back in your service with all humility for a lifetime. Do well, be well, end for good. My journey will continue. Jai Hind.”

The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) on Saturday alleged that Sonu Sood and his associates have committed tax evasion of Rs 20 crore. The board also alleged that when the Income Tax Department raided the premises of him and the Lucknow-based group associated with him, it was found that he had shown his unaccounted income in the form of fake unsecured loans from several fake entities. The department has also accused Sood of violating the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) while raising funds from abroad.
