In its instructions, TIFR has said that all staff should avoid uploading any photo or video related to the institution or government property on social media.
In a letter dated April 13, TIFR Registrar Wing Commander George Antony (Retd) referred to comments notified by the Department of Atomic Energy that photographs and videos of DAE offices and facilities were seen on Facebook, WhatsApp and other social media platforms.
The letter reads, “It has been observed that some disgruntled employees are sharing anti-government material on social media. The staff members of the Institute are requested to refrain from uploading any video on social media platforms relating to the Institute, its centers and field stations, residential colonies or any other government property, as it may lead to serious security consequences. Staff members are further informed to refrain from uploading any anti-government material on social media. The family members should also be made aware of this.”
Accepting the notification, TIFR director Professor S Ramakrishnan said he would respond to queries regarding the letter on Monday.
The Indian Express quoted sources as saying that the letter was issued based on the instructions of the DAE.
